LDEA Denies Reports of DCP Biago’s Resignation

By Lincoln G. Peters

MONROVIA, June 22, 2026 — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has dismissed social media reports claiming that its Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, is planning to resign amid the ongoing investigation into the US$19.2 million cocaine seizure.

In a statement issued Saturday, the agency described the reports as false and misleading, maintaining that Biago has neither expressed nor contemplated any intention to resign.

“The claim is entirely baseless and without merit. At no time has the Officer-in-Charge expressed, discussed, or entertained any intention to resign,” the LDEA said.

The agency said the reports appear intended to mislead the public and undermine its efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime.

It reaffirmed that Biago remains fully committed to his responsibilities and continues to lead the agency in carrying out its statutory mandate.

The LDEA also stressed that it will not be distracted by misinformation or external pressure as it continues its work.

“This statement is issued not to dignify falsehoods, but to correct the record and provide clarity to the Liberian people,” the statement added.

The agency urged the public to disregard unverified reports and rely on official sources for accurate information regarding its operations and the ongoing investigation.

It also called on Liberians to continue supporting the agency’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime.
