Zimbabwe Women High Performance won by 3 wickets

Zimbabwe Women’s High Performance side bounced back from their defeat to Nigeria with a hard-fought three-wicket victory over Brazil at Gahanga on Friday, in a match that was far tighter than their comprehensive win over the same opponents two days earlier.

Electing to field, Zimbabwe were indebted to Salem Museka and Mitchelle Mavunga for keeping Brazil’s total in check. Museka was outstanding, claiming 4/13 from four overs to skittle through the Brazilian middle and lower order, while Mavunga took 2/8 from just over three overs with exemplary control.

The only significant resistance came from Laura Agatha, who carried her bat through much of the innings for a composed 54 off 54 balls before being run out with Brazil 96/9. Without her, the total of 98 would have been considerably more modest.

The Zimbabwean’s reply began disastrously.

Lindrose Masina fell third ball without scoring, then captain Adel Zimunu was lbw second ball. That was two wickets down for one run inside the first over. Kelly Ndiraya refused to panic, launching a counter-attacking 34 off 23 balls to haul Zimbabwe back into the game. Betty Mangachena steadied things with a careful unbeaten 20, while Nyasha Gwanzura contributed 16 and Runyararo Pasipanodya chipped in with 13.

When Lindokuhle Mabhera fell at 89/7, nerves jangled, but Vimbai Mutungwindu finished the job with an unbeaten 6 to seal the Zimbabwean’s third win of the 2026 Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament.
