Kwara United Bolster Squad With 16 New Signings, Set Sights On NPFL Title Push – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Kwara United have signalled their intent for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after completing one of the club’s busiest transfer windows, unveiling 16 new players to strengthen every department of the squad.

The Harmony Boys also retained 16 members of last season’s team, creating a balanced mix of continuity and fresh talent as they prepare for a domestic campaign and continental football.

Club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, said the recruitment drive became necessary following the exit of several players whose contracts expired or who moved on in search of new opportunities.

The transfer business saw the Ilorin-based side reinforce key positions, bringing in two goalkeepers, four defenders, a defensive midfielder, a winger and eight attacking players in a clear statement of intent to improve the squad’s firepower.

Among the notable arrivals are goalkeeper Ouattara Khalifa from Mali’s Alemas FC, defender Peace Dewan from Bendel Insurance, midfielder Anthony Nnamdi, also from Bendel Insurance, striker Ajibola Ayomade from Ikorodu City, Jerry Alex from Rangers International and Benjamin Jack from Nasarawa United.

Titiloye said the club’s objective is straightforward: challenge for the NPFL title and reclaim the President Federation Cup after identifying and addressing the shortcomings of last season.

“We want to finish at the top of the league, win the NPFL title and reclaim the President Federation Cup. Every match will be approached like a World Cup final,” he said.

He also praised the Kwara State Government and the Kwara State Sports Commission for their continued investment and support, expressing confidence that the strengthened squad would give supporters plenty to look forward to in the new season.
