Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Stephanie Koury, met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Aguila Saleh on Saturday in Benghazi, where they discussed the outcomes of the structured dialogue facilitated by the UN mission.
The two sides reviewed the latest political developments, particularly the “successful conclusion of the structured dialogue,” according to a UN statement, which stressed the importance of moving forward with the political process towards holding “free, fair, and credible national elections.”
Koury also met with the head of the National Committee for Follow-up on Prison Conditions, Ibrahim Bushnaf. They reviewed the committee’s progress and future plans to address detention-related issues.
The UN mission reaffirmed its commitment to providing the necessary technical support to help the committee achieve its goals.
