KCCI seeks stronger trade, investment ties with Lesotho

KUWAIT: The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) affirmed its commitment to strengthening economic relations between Kuwait and Lesotho and expanding trade and investment cooperation to boost bilateral trade and establish new investment partnerships. In a press statement issued Saturday following a meeting with Lesotho’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Lempho Tao and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Lesotho’s Ambassador to Kuwait Manthapeseng Phulele, the Chamber said discussions focused on ways to develop economic ties between the two friendly countries and explore opportunities available to their respective business sectors.

The KCCI emphasized its readiness to support bilateral cooperation by organizing business meetings, exhibitions of national products and initiatives to share information on trade and investment opportunities, as well as Lesotho’s investment laws and regulations. It said these efforts would help familiarize Kuwait’s business community with investment opportunities in Lesotho, contributing to higher trade volumes and stronger partnerships between companies in the two countries. Minister Tao, meanwhile, expressed Lesotho’s interest in further developing its economic relations with Kuwait and creating more opportunities for Kuwaiti businesses to cooperate with their counterparts in Lesotho.

He highlighted investment opportunities in several sectors, including mining, precious stones, textiles and clothing, wool and fine mohair, as well as food and agricultural products, livestock, poultry and tourism. Tao also highlighted Lesotho’s abundant water resources, which have earned the country the nickname “the water tower of southern Africa,” noting their potential for hydroelectric power generation. He invited Kuwait’s business community to explore the investment opportunities available in Lesotho and benefit from the country’s economic potential. — KUNA
