Jamaica dethroned as Haiti claim CFU U-14 boys title

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica were dethroned as kings of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Boys Tier 1 Challenge Series on Sunday after they were outplayed and beaten 4-0 by Haiti in the final played at Cap Cana, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Wensley Dumorne scored twice early in the second half to take the game away from Jamaica, who trailed 1-0 at half-time and were losing for the first time in two trips to the competition.

It was the first time Jamaica had conceded a goal in the tournament after winning their previous four games by an 8-0 aggregate, including a 1-0 win over Bermuda in Friday’s semi-final.

Haiti went into the final as favourites after dismantling hosts Dominican Republic 6-1 in their semi-final.

After dominating early, Haiti were rewarded when Jodeley Sheeck Delmas opened the scoring in the 28th minute.

Dumorne doubled the lead in the 39th minute and then completed his brace in the 47th minute before Ronelson Pele Janvier added a fourth in the 59th minute.
