Marcy Precious Little, a licensed home daycare that has been serving the Jamaica community since 2009, hosted a Black Tie Prom for children ages 1-7 years old, including children with special needs.
Children dressed their best for the event, hosted at Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center in Corona on May 22, including those in the Prom Court that donned crowns and sashes.
According to Lashanda Fraser, founder and director of Marcy Precious Little, events like these help remind residents what community truly looks like.
“Every single child gets their moment — no child is left out,” Fraser said. “In a world where children with special needs are often overlooked, we are making sure they are celebrated loudly and proudly right here in Jamaica, Queens.”
She emphasized that every child deserves to feel celebrated, valued and seen, regardless of their ability.

For 17 years, Marcy Precious Little has worked with children and their parents to deliver quality care tailored to individual needs, following a mission to “help our future leaders of tomorrow strive for success.”
Programs range in age group, including infants as young as six weeks to 15 months, toddler and preschool programming, and before and after school programs for children ages 5-12.
The daycare’s drop-in program also allows parents who do not need regular childcare to drop their children off on an as-needed basis.
Evening and overnight care is available to children over six weeks of age, which is coordinated alongside the parents to ensure nighttime routines are followed accordingly.
Two summer programs are available to children, as well, including a junior league for children ages 2-5 and an upper division for children ages 5-12.
