JackJumper shines for South Sudan

Tasmania JackJumpers star Majok Deng was a standout in South Sudan’s FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 African Qualifiers campaign, top-scoring with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists and 1 steal in the Bright Stars’ 81-72 win over Guinea.

Deng was the catalyst as South Sudan claimed victory at Tunisia’s Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès in the first fixture of the window, a result that moves the Bright Stars into equal second on the Group E ladder, behind leaders Cameroon.

South Sudan, whose squad also features former NBL players Mangok Mathiang and Jackson Makoi, next face Nigeria on August 28, before fixtures against Tunisia (August 31), Guinea (February 25), Nigeria (February 26) and Tunisia (February 28).
