Iraq’s trade exchange with Saudi Arabia hits $1.7 billion

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Saudi General Authority for Statistics revealed on Monday that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Saudi Arabia reached approximately $1.7 billion during 2025.

The volume reflects the continued growth of trade relations between the two countries, with Saudi Arabia achieving a considerable trade surplus, local news outlet Shafaq News reported.

The authority said in a statement that the Saudi exports to Iraq totaled around $1.66 billion, with cereal- or flour-based products accounting for $237 million, electrical appliances and equipment standing at $221 million, and aluminum and its products totaling $160 million.

Iraqi exports to Saudi Arabia were around $18 million, with aluminum and related products ranking first, followed by antiquities and relics, and finally gums and herbal extracts.

Trade exchange between the two countries has increased by 35 percent due to non-oil exports and logistics at the Arar border crossing.

Saudi Arabia has a significant trade surplus, with exports mostly consisting of building materials, food, dairy products, and packaging.

The Arar border crossing has facilitated the movement of commercial vehicles and trade exhibitions.

Over 30 Saudi companies are operational in Iraq, and about 46 Iraqi companies are present in Saudi Arabia.
