Iraqi security delegation to visit Saudi Arabia


Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed on Wednesday arrangements for the upcoming visit of an Iraqi security delegation to Saudi Arabia.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry mentioned that the two ministers convened in Amman, the capital of Jordan, during the Arab ministerial meeting focused on Jerusalem.

The meeting addressed the importance of enhancing ties between the two countries, issues of common interest, preparations for the upcoming Arab summit, and the security developments in the region.

The two sides also reviewed plans for the Iraqi security delegation’s future trip to Saudi Arabia, as well as mutual visits between the two countries to strengthen cooperation.

As Hussein discussed the Iraqi government’s initiatives to bring weapons under state control, Farhan conveyed Saudi Arabia’s backing for the new Iraqi government and its efforts to enhance security within the country and uphold regional stability.

The two sides reviewed security development in the region and their impact on oil export routes and energy security. They also discussed regional initiatives and potential agreements focused on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to facilitate maritime traffic.

Both parties stressed the significance of ongoing collaboration within the Arab League framework to promote common interests and improve regional stability.
