Iraqi e-commerce startup Rozenama raises $150,000 to expand across Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Rozenama, a Baghdad-based e-commerce startup, has raised $150,000 in pre-seed capital to grow its platform and extend its services across Iraq.

Rozenama, founded in Baghdad in 2022 by Abbas Muhil and Mohammed Fawzi, offers Iraqi businesses tools for managing online shops while combining local delivery services, payment alternatives, and Iraq’s extensively utilized cash-on-delivery system.

Iraqi entrepreneur Mohammed Haider, the CEO of Aljasmi Perfumes, made the investment.

The venture is aimed at companies who still depend heavily on Instagram, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms to collect orders and manually handle sales and inventory.

Rozenama claims its active merchant base has increased from roughly 250 to more than 900 in the last year, while registered users have topped 13,000.

The extra financing will mostly go toward engineering and the launch of a refurbished version of the platform on August 25, as well as expansion into other Iraqi governorates.

The firm said that the majority of its recent growth has come from outside of Baghdad; thus, provincial markets would be a significant emphasis for its next stage.

The investment comes as Iraq’s e-commerce industry grows with the broader acceptance of digital payments, delivery services, and online shopping, opening up new prospects for locally constructed technology platforms.
