Iraqi-British celebrity barber Ahmed Alsanawi takes A Star Barbers to Dubai

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Ahmed Alsanawi, an Iraqi-born British celebrity barber, is expanding his A Star Barbers brand to Dubai, marking the next step in a journey that started with a single UK barbershop in 2013.

Alsanawi was born in Baghdad and came to England with his family at the age of nine.

He subsequently trained himself in barbering before establishing A Star Barbers with his wife in southwest London.

After months of preparation, the brand has announced Dubai as its next destination, marking the well-known barber’s first big growth into the UAE.

His brother Abs is also a member of the A Star crew, having worked with Ahmed for years as the group expanded beyond its first barbershop.

A Star’s development has gone beyond haircuts.

The company has expanded into other enterprises, such as A Star Tattoos and the Fini by A-Star haircare line, which blends styling products with oud perfumes.

The Dubai shift is especially noteworthy considering Alsanawi’s Iraqi-British background.

He came to Britain as a boy unable to understand English, then went on to develop a well-known UK barbering business and become a trusted barber for international football players.

Dubai now offers A Star access to one of the Middle East’s most international premium grooming and lifestyle marketplaces, as well as a city that many of the brand’s players and celebrities frequent.

For Alsanawi, the inauguration signifies another step toward transforming an Iraqi-born entrepreneur’s firm in Britain into a worldwide brand, with Dubai serving as the next chapter in the A Star tale.
