WANA (Sep 11) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has called for respect for Yemen’s independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as an end to the blockade of the country, in a statement on developments in Yemen.

 

The ministry said security and stability in West Asia and the Red Sea region cannot be achieved without respecting the rights and dignity of the Yemeni people.

 

Referring to the current situation in Yemen, the ministry stressed that the developments cannot be separated from the events of more than a decade. It said the Yemeni people have the right to live with dignity, free from pressure, intimidation and blockade, and that their national sovereignty and territorial integrity must be fully respected.

 

Iran also stressed the need to take into account the interests of the Muslim community, particularly at a time when West Asia is facing what it described as unprecedented “aggression, injustice and expansionism” by the Israeli regime with U.S. support. It said issues related to Yemen cannot be resolved through continued blockade and military action.

 

The Iranian Foreign Ministry concluded by stressing the need for the **immediate resumption of talks based on the agreed roadmap and implementation of its provisions**, adding that Iran is ready to make any possible good-faith efforts to help advance the process.
