Withdrawn proposal
This is the first FIFA-organized tournament since Infantino withdrew a proposal to sell a stake in the project at the end of July. Under this proposal, commercial rights to the World Cup and other FIFA tournaments were valued at $20 billion.
Reuters reported that the idea was abandoned after sharp criticism from regional football organizations, including Europe’s UEFA, and major players in the football sphere.
