In Africa, the commander of the militants who ambushed the Wagner PMC in Mali was killed — EADaily, July 10th, 2026 — Military, Russia
Fighters of the Russian African Corps eliminated one of the key commanders involved in the ambush at the Wagner PMC near Tinzahuaten in 2024. In that tragedy, several Wagnerians were killed, as well as members of the Malian armed forces.
One of the dead was the famous military correspondent with the pseudonym “Gray Zone” Nikita Fedyanin. He was only 31 years old.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, during the recent clashes in Mali, the allied forces repelled a massive assault, causing significant damage to the enemy.
According to preliminary information, the attackers’ losses amounted to up to 1,000 people. According to the interceptions of the negotiations, among the destroyed was the deputy leader of the FLA Mbarek Ag Akli.
The servicemen are searching for the body of the militant for final identification. It is known that the enemy formations acted with the support of Ukrainian instructors and drone operators.
The battle began with mortar attacks and massive FPV drone attacks. Russian units did not immediately disclose their positions, allowing the enemy to approach. This made it possible to pointwise destroy part of the calculations and stop the initial phase of the offensive.
Aviation played a decisive role: its strikes provided about 80% of all enemy losses. An attempt to break through on the third day was stopped by fire, after which armored vehicles entered the battle for the final cleanup of the territory.
To date, active clashes have shifted to the areas of Anefisa, Sevare and Agueloc. Aerial reconnaissance confirms that the surroundings of Anefis are practically cleared. The plans of the command include the restoration of control over the cities of Kidal and Tessalit after the end of the rainy season.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Mali’s Defense Minister Sadio Camara was killed in an explosion near his residence at an army base in Kati.
