Durban City have had the better chances against Orlando Pirates, but the two sides enter the halftime break goalless.

Buccaneers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou recalled club captain Nkosinathi Sibisi, Ndaba and Tshepang Moremi following their exploits in the CAF Champions League over the weekend, while Gamphani Lungu was not fit enough to make the squad.

The visitors were nearly gifted the opening goal inside the opening five minutes after Tylo Sanger won the ball high up the pitch to go one-on-one with Sipho Chane, who pulled off a wonderful save to deny the City winger.

That was as good as it got for City, who lined up with five defenders in their starting line-up as they were happy to sit deep in their own half and frustrate the Buccaneers, similarly to what they did in the same fixture towards the end of last season.

The approach looked to have paid off in the first half the visitors, who were able to restrict the Buccaneers to efforts from distance in the opening 45 minutes, none of which troubled goalkeeper Fredrick Asare.

Instead, it was Chaine who was the busier of the two goalkeepers as the Pirates star proved his worth on the stroke of halftime to deny Jean Lwamba in another one-on-one situation after a superb ball over the top by Kyle Jurgens.
