Bafana Bafana and Egypt could not be separated after the opening 45 minutes of their international friendly on Sunday evening.

Halftime: Egypt 0-0 South Africa

Venue: Cairo International Stadium
Coach Pitso Mosimane made eight changes from the side that started against Eritrea, as Ime Okon, Sithole and Brooklyn Poggenpoel were the only players to keep their spot in the side, as Puso Dithejane was given his debut.
The Egyptians took control from the early stages in the first half but they should have broken the deadlock inside the opening ten minutes when Omar Marmoush weaved his way into the box before sending his effort just wide of the upright.
It took a while for Bafana to fashion any openings at the other end of the field, but they had to wait for the 20-minute mark to push into the final third, however Thabang Matuludi’s final ball was not up to par.
Matuludi was popping up at the right places for Bafana as the Mamelodi Sundowns went close to putting the visitors ahead seven minutes before the break with a first-time strike that sailed inches over the crossbar.
That proved to be Bafana’s best opening of the first half as they struggled with entries into the opposition box, while goalkeeper Sipho Chaine did have a couple simple saves to make at the other end as the first ended goalless.
Here’s how they lined up:
South Africa: Chaine, Okon, Seema, Matuludi, Basadien, Sithole, Poggenpoel, Matthews, Dithejane, Singh, Mailula
Subs: Williams, Rayners, Mbuthuma, Zwane, Campbell, Moremei, Kabini, Morena, Makhanya, Ndamane, Sibisi, Goss
Egypt: Shobeir, Hany, Abdel Meguid, Rabia, Karim, Mohannad, Marwan, Emam, Ibrahim, Marmoush, Ziko
