Haiti Coach Insists He Wanted to Win Against World Cup Dark Horses Morocco

Rabat – Haiti coach Sebastien Migne expressed disappointment over his team’s loss to Morocco, insisting he had sought victory.

Migne said he is disappointed with the result.

“I would have liked for us to score more and win, but that being said, I didn’t feel as though the boys gave up,” the coach said, acknowledging the challenging conditions after Morocco’s third goal.

Ahead of the game, Migne promised Haitian fans that his team would aim for a historic performance, a promise that was largely kept as his team took the lead on the scoreline during the first half.

Haiti scored against Morocco in the 10th minute of the match, and it was only in the 39th minute that Morocco responded with an equalizer.

Wilson Isidor scored Haiti’s second goal, which Saibari responded to in the 45th minute.

Soufiane Rahimi scored the third goal for Morocco in the 78th minute, and Yassine Gessime sealed the win one minute before the end of regular time in the match.

Migne lauded his team’s spectacular performance against Morocco, stating his squad deserved qualification.

For him, the team needs some improvements, but he said the performance marked a new chapter in Haiti’s football history.

Haiti showed a great game and performance against the Atlas Lions, who also made mistakes on the pitch.

Many have attributed the challenges to Mohamed Ouahbi’s changes to the starting lineup. Team captain Achraf Hakimi responded to the criticism, stating that the rotations were necessary so other players could rest before upcoming decisive games.

Ouahbi said Morocco has entered a new stage, with every opponent respecting the Atlas Lions.

“Winning the World Cup requires us to respect every team we face,” he added. “I trust the work we are doing.”

Morocco will play its Round of 32 match on Monday at 2 a.m. The rival is yet to be revealed, but observers expect the game to be against the Netherlands.

As for Haiti, they are eliminated, but coach Sebastien Migne believes his team could go far in the competition if they are given one more chance, or in the coming tournament.
