Haftar authorities release “Soumoud Convoy 2” members after 30 days

Authorities affiliated with the parallel government in eastern Libya have released members of the “Soumoud Convoy 2” after nearly 30 days in detention. The group had been stopped near Sirte while attempting to travel east as part of a solidarity convoy bound for Gaza.

The parallel government’s Foreign Ministry said the convoy members will be deported from Libya under a ruling issued by a chamber of the Benghazi Court of Appeal, adding that the necessary legal and administrative procedures are being carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The detainees were arrested in late May, shortly after eastern authorities announced that convoy participants would not be permitted to continue toward the Egyptian border.
