Putin: Friends,

I warmly
congratulate the current and former workers of Russia’s railway transport
sector on this holiday – all those whose dedicated, conscientious work
contributes to the growth of this industry, which holds such strategic
importance for our country. We are proud of the achievements, accomplishments,
and successes of the many generations who came before you.

This
year marks the 175th anniversary of the first railway of national significance,
which connected Moscow and St Petersburg. Its construction became a landmark event in the creation of Russia’s powerful and advanced
transport network. That network enhanced the nation’s defence capabilities and economic advancement, facilitated the expansion and development of our vast
territories, boosted business activity and social progress, and dramatically
improved mobility for millions of people.

I would
like to particularly highlight that the technical, engineering, and innovative
solutions employed in constructing these new railway lines reflected virtually
all of the most advanced ideas of their time. Since then, Russia’s
railways have stood as a symbol of reliability and progress for our nation.

The heroism and courage demonstrated by railway workers during the country’s most
difficult periods, when the entire nation united in defence of the Fatherland, will
forever remain in the memory of our people. Today, Russian Railways employees
continue to make an invaluable contribution by supporting the supply of troops
participating in the special military operation. Often at considerable personal
risk, they deliver essential supplies to residents of border regions and help
restore transport connections in the liberated territories of Novorossiya and Donbass.

In recent years, thanks to the consistent, responsible efforts of a united and highly qualified team of professionals, Russia’s railway infrastructure has
continued to develop steadily. Construction of the country’s first domestic
high-speed railway line is advancing at full speed.

Russia’s railway workers
continue to meet the challenges of the present day with distinction. They are
actively introducing the latest technologies, including electronic logistics
systems and the digitalisation of services, while improving the safety, speed,
and accessibility of both freight and passenger transport.
