Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has mourned Ahmed Yusuf, the village head of Galla in the Borgu Emirate of the state killed by bandits.
In a statement on Wednesday by Ibrahim Bologi, the spokesman for Mr Bago, the governor said killing of a monarch in his palace is insolence by the bandits.
The deceased was also a brother to the minister of state for agriculture and food security, Aliyu Abdullahi.
“The killing of the village head in his palace is the demonstration of boldness and high level of insolence by the bandits,” he said.
He stated that the governor had tasked security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are not only apprehended but also prosecuted.
Mr Bago commiserated with the minister, the people of Galla village and the entire Borgu Emirate over the demise of the village head.
He added that the deceased lived a good life and died in defending his subjects.
The governor further assured his support to the deceased’s family, Galla village and the entire Borgu Emirate.
