Day 4 of the Telkom Netball League Power Week 1 coincided with South Africa’s Freedom Day, and the occasion was marked with vibrant energy both on and off the court, as fans, friends, and families filled the arena in support of their teams at the Durban University of Technology (Steve Biko Campus) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday, 27 April 2026.
Adding to the atmosphere, teams continued the now-familiar pre-match dance routines, setting the tone for another thrilling day of netball action.
The headline Division 1 clash between Golden Fireballs and Eastern Cape Aloes lived up to expectations, with Golden Fireballs producing a strong second-half performance to secure a 60-49 victory.
The contest began as a tightly contested battle in midcourt, with Eastern Cape Aloes edging the first quarter 14-12. Golden Fireballs responded well, building momentum to take a narrow 29-28 lead into halftime.
With the match finely balanced, the third quarter saw both teams trading points in an intense, end-to-end contest, before Golden Fireballs found another gear in the final quarter.
Their ability to convert defensive stops into attacking opportunities proved decisive, as they pulled away to claim a deserved win. Nontsikelelo Mazibuko (GS) was named Player of the Match following a standout performance in attack.

The day began with high drama in Division 2, as Limpopo Baobabs edged Free State Sonoblomo 50-49 in a thrilling encounter.
Limpopo Baobabs controlled much of the first half, taking a 28-20 lead into the break, but Free State Sonoblomo responded with a composed comeback in the third quarter to narrow the deficit to just three goals.
The final quarter delivered compelling drama, with the scores tied at 46-46 in the closing minutes. With the match seemingly destined for a late twist, Limpopo Baobabs held their composure to secure a narrow victory. Nompha Raphalalani (GS) was named Player of the Match for her crucial contribution.

Western Cape Tornados continued their strong form with a 49-43 Division 2 victory over Malawi U21 in a competitive clash.
Malawi U21 started confidently, leading 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Western Cape Tornados made key tactical adjustments to edge ahead 22-21 at halftime.
They took control in the third quarter, extending their lead to 36-27, and held off a determined Malawi U21 side to close out the win. Lara Ehlers (C) once again impressed, earning Player of the Match honours.


North West Tshukudu delivered a dominant Division 2 performance to defeat Eastern Cape Comets 50-34, bouncing back strongly with a controlled and disciplined display.
Mpumalanga Sunbirds overcame Limpopo Lilies 49-41 in a competitive Division 1 encounter. After leading 24-17 at halftime, Mpumalanga Sunbirds were tested by a spirited third-quarter comeback from Limpopo Lilies before securing the result in the final quarter.
The evening session brought further excitement, beginning with Kingdom Queens’ impressive 57-50 Division 1 victory over Northern Cape Diamonds.

A fast start and strong defensive pressure saw Kingdom Queens build a commanding lead, which they maintained despite a late push from Northern Cape Diamonds. Nonhlanhla Shabangu (C) was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
In the final match of the evening, Free State Crinums continued their strong run with a convincing 54-34 Division 1 win over Kingdom Stars.
Free State Crinums established control early, leading 18-7 after the first quarter, and maintained their composure throughout the match.
Despite a spirited effort from Kingdom Stars, the experience and efficiency of Free State Crinums proved decisive. Bianca Lubbe (GD) was named Player of the Match for her defensive anchoring throughout the contest.
