Golar’s FLNG departs Cameroon after eight years offshore

CoreMarine has completed the disconnection and removal of Golar LNG’s Hilli Episeyo FLNG unit off Cameroon, clearing the vessel for redeployment to Argentina after eight years of production offshore Kribi.

The company provided project management, engineering, procurement, and operational services for the campaign

The successful departure marks the end of the FLNG’s Cameroon contract, which expired in July 2026, and the start of its transition to a new 20-year charter supporting Argentina’s LNG export plans.

The 2.45m tonnes per annum unit is now en route to Singapore for upgrade and life-extension works, including winterisation and installation of a new soft-yoke mooring system, before moving to Golfo San Matías by mid-2027.

“The technical complexity and fast-track nature of this project highlight CoreMarine’s engineering expertise and our ability to deliver demanding offshore solutions within tight timeframes,” said Gerardo Rodriguez, lead project manager at CoreMarine.

The company was awarded the contract to transport and install the SSY mooring system and hook up both the Hilli Episeyo and MKII FLNG units in Argentina’s Golfo San Matías in April.
