GNU signs Hong Kong Convention establishing the International Organization for Mediation

The Government of National Unity has signed the agreement establishing the International Organization for Mediation—known as the “Hong Kong Convention”—in Beijing, China.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that this move comes within the framework of enhancing international cooperation to resolve disputes through peaceful means.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the Ministry explained that the agreement aims to support international efforts to develop and strengthen mediation mechanisms as a means of resolving international disputes without escalation.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Libya by Zuhair Al-Azabi, Director of the International Law and Treaties Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Beijing, Abu Bakr Ahmed Bin Saud, and several officials from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
