Global Moroccan Lantern Sales Expected to Reach $879 Million by 2034

Rabat – The global Moroccan lantern market is projected to grow from $514.16 million (MAD 4.75 billion) in 2025 to $879.38 million (MAD 8.13 billion) by 2034, according to Fortune Business Insights.

The market is expected to reach $540.08 million (MAD 4.99 billion) in 2026, before expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 6.28% between 2026 and 2034, according to the report.

The figures refer to the global market for Moroccan lanterns, covering products sold internationally, rather than the size of Morocco’s domestic lantern manufacturing industry.

Fortune Business Insights identifies decorative lighting, rising home decor spending, and demand from hospitality establishments among the factors supporting market growth.

Europe leads the global market

Europe accounted for 31.15% of the global Moroccan lantern market in 2025, making it the largest regional market.

The European market was valued at $160.21 million (MAD 1.48 billion) in 2025. The report points to strong consumer interest in Moroccan-style interiors and Europe’s proximity to Morocco as factors supporting demand.

North America also represented a major market, with a value of $140.26 million (MAD 1.30 billion) in 2025.

Asia Pacific accounted for 14.20% of the global market and is expected to record the fastest growth through 2034, with a projected CAGR of 8.08%.

Hanging lanterns remain the leading segment

Hanging lanterns accounted for 43.70% of the global market in 2025, making them the largest product category.

Their versatility has helped them remain popular across residential and commercial settings, including homes, restaurants, hotels, gardens, and outdoor spaces.

Electric and LED lanterns represented 49.01% of the market in 2025. The report highlights the growing integration of LED technology into Moroccan lantern designs, including features such as improved energy efficiency, remote controls, and color-changing lighting.

Moroccan design

Moroccan lanterns are widely recognized for their intricate metalwork, decorative patterns, and colored glass panels.

These elements create distinctive lighting effects while allowing the lanterns to function as decorative pieces.

Manufacturers are increasingly combining these traditional design elements with modern lighting technology, helping Moroccan-style lanterns appeal to contemporary consumers and commercial spaces.

The hospitality sector is another area supporting demand. Hotels, restaurants, resorts and cafes are increasingly using decorative lighting and Moroccan or Mediterranean-inspired designs as part of their interior and outdoor spaces.

Fragility remains a challenge

Despite the market’s growth prospects, Fortune Business Insights identifies several challenges that could affect demand.

Glass components can be fragile during transportation, while metal lanterns may be vulnerable to rust and fading, particularly when used outdoors. Maintenance requirements could therefore limit adoption in some applications.

Still, the overall outlook remains positive. If the forecast holds, the global Moroccan lantern market will increase by $365.22 million (MAD 3.38 billion) between 2025 and 2034.
