Global Gateway: EU funds European machinery to chocolate factory in Papua New Guinea

As part of the EU-STREIT programme in Papua New Guinea, the EU financed twelve types of new machinery, provided by European companies, to chocolate factory “Queen Emma” based in capital city Port Moresby. The official opening of these facilities took place on 13 August in presence of Prime Minister Marape, EU Ambassador Erika Hasznos and partners, who highlighted the concrete benefits of investing in quality value chains – from the cocoa producers to manufacturers and ultimately consumers. 

EU-STREIT PNG is the European Union’s largest grant-funded initiative in Papua New Guinea under the Global Gateway Strategy. With more than 70 million EUR/ 365 million kina funding over 7 years, it is  the European Union’s largest grant programme in the whole Pacific.
