Gabon Expands Digital Infrastructure Agency Presence with New Franceville Office

According to ANINF Director General Alberto Mounguengui Moudoki, the establishment of the Franceville office reflects the agency’s commitment to bringing digital expertise and state technological services closer to local administrations, businesses, communities, and citizens.

The National Agency for Digital Infrastructures and Frequencies (ANINF)  has achieved a significant milestone in Gabon’s digital transformation agenda with the official inauguration of its first provincial office in Franceville, located in the Haut-Ogooué province. The opening ceremony took place on June 23, 2026, marking the agency’s first regional establishment since its creation in 2011.

The ceremony was presided over by the Prefect of the Department of M’Passa, acting on behalf of the Governor of Haut-Ogooué Province. It was attended by the President of the Departmental Council of M’Passa, the Mayor of Franceville, and representatives from various local administrations, highlighting the importance of the initiative to regional governance and public service delivery.

According to ANINF Director General Alberto Mounguengui Moudoki, the establishment of the Franceville office reflects the agency’s commitment to bringing digital expertise and state technological services closer to local administrations, businesses, communities, and citizens. The decentralization effort is intended to support the digital transformation process across the entire national territory and ensure that provincial regions benefit from the country’s digital development initiatives.

The newly established office will provide local technical support to public institutions, assist administrations in the use of state digital infrastructure, facilitate the identification and reporting of local technological needs, and strengthen coordination between ANINF’s central administration and local stakeholders. These functions are expected to improve the implementation of digital services and enhance the effectiveness of government technology initiatives at the regional level.

The opening of the Franceville office represents an important step toward strengthening ANINF’s territorial presence and promoting inclusive digital transformation throughout Gabon. By extending its operations beyond the capital, the agency aims to support local development, improve public service delivery, and contribute to the well-being of communities through increased access to digital services and infrastructure.

The initiative also aligns with the national vision of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who has identified digital technology as a key instrument for administrative modernization, territorial development, and improved public services. The establishment of the first provincial ANINF office therefore marks a new phase in Gabon’s efforts to build digital sovereignty and accelerate nationwide digital transformation.
