Four Reported Deaths Spark Fear in Panta

GBARNGA, Bong County, September 2, 2026 — Residents of Forquelleh Town and surrounding communities in Panta District, Bong County, are calling for an urgent health investigation following reports that at least four people have died in the area over the past month under circumstances yet to be officially established.

The reported deaths have generated concern among residents, who are urging the Bong County Health Team and other health authorities to investigate and determine whether the cases are connected.

According to accounts from the community, a woman and her daughter reportedly died within a two-week period, followed by the deaths of two other people in nearby communities during the following two weeks.

The identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their deaths have not been independently established.

Residents say the situation has created anxiety in Forquelleh and nearby communities because the causes of the reported deaths remain unknown.

They are calling on the Bong County Health Team to visit the affected communities, conduct medical assessments and provide information on whether there is any public health concern.

Residents also want health authorities to determine whether the deaths are connected or resulted from unrelated medical conditions.

As of press time, there was no official confirmation from health authorities regarding the number of deaths or their causes, and there is currently no established evidence linking the reported cases to an infectious disease or outbreak.
