The Niger State police command has arrested six suspected hoodlums accused of terrorising parts of Minna, the state capital, and recovered suspected cannabis during separate operations.
The command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Friday.
“Earlier on 15th June 2026, at about 6.15pm, a police patrol team attached to Kpakungu Division while on routine patrol arrested a suspect from a hideout in Gurara area,” he said.
According to him, the suspect was found in possession of suspected cannabis.
He added that on June 17, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m., three other suspected miscreants were arrested during a raid in the Gurara area with suspected cannabis.
The suspects were identified as Hussaini Yusuf, 26; Ahmed Mohammed, 22; and Kabiru Yakubu, 21, all residents of the Gurara area.
Mr Abiodun said the four suspects were arraigned in court on June 22, 2026, and sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment without the option of a fine.
He further stated that on June 29, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m., police operatives attached to Sarkin-Pawa Division arrested two additional suspects.
The suspects were identified as Ahmed Abdullahi, 20, of Mangoro, and Moses Ali, 22, of Jafulu Sabon Gari.
The police spokesperson said that the two suspects were arrested with suspected cannabis and vandalized cables while attempting to sell them.
