Former officials face three-month deadline to vacate government residences — Eye Radio

Former constitutional office holders—including vice presidents, ministers, and presidential advisers—must vacate state housing within three months under proposed legal amendments, the government spokesperson announced.

Government Spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny confirmed that the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs will oversee the regulation.

The measure targets former ministers, vice presidents, presidential advisers, and other post holders to prevent unauthorized occupation of government property after leaving office.

According to Ateny, the three-month period provides former officials time to make arrangements before the properties revert to the government for allocation to incoming appointees.

“The Cabinet Affairs Ministry will be regulating houses as soon as a minister who is a constitutional post holder or vice president leaves the office,” Ateny said.

“The houses they live in within three months of a period should revert back to the government for the accommodation of the incoming vice president or minister or presidential advisers, if they are occupying a government house. This is to go against these unauthorized occupations after leaving office,” Ateny added.
