The Tripoli Criminal Court has sentenced a former chairman of Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) to five years in prison and fined him LYD 100,000 over financial and administrative violations.
The Attorney General’s Office said the defendant spent LYD 20 million in company funds in violation of approved regulations and signed an LYD 80 million property purchase contract without conducting a market valuation. He also paid 25% of the contract value in violation of the rules governing the company’s budget.
The verdict was issued during the court’s latest session, with the defendant exempted from criminal costs.
