Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha received an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit the People’s Republic of China.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“Andrii Sybiha announced that he had received an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to visit China. Possible dates for the visit are currently being discussed,” the Foreign Ministry noted.
According to Sybiha, during talks with Wang Yi, he called on China to support a ceasefire, as this aligns with China’s principles regarding ending this war.
The minister also welcomed China’s willingness to play a more active role in achieving peace.
Sybiha added that Ukraine is interested in intensifying bilateral contacts with China, particularly at the highest level.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on June 16 that China has significant influence over Russia through economic ties, but Ukraine currently does not see any willingness on Beijing’s part to pressure Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to end the war.
