MONROVIA, Liberia, May 27, 2026— Bong County District Three Representative Marvin Cole has called on President Joseph Boakai to immediately dismiss Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director General Josiah Joekai for what he described as open involvement in partisan politics during the launch of the National Independent Movement for Boakai (NIMBO) on Sunday.

Speaking Tuesday at a press conference at the Capitol Building, Rep. Cole accused Joekai of violating the code of conduct and ethical standards governing public officials after he allegedly appeared at the NIMBO program wearing the movement’s campaign T-shirt, dancing and chanting political slogans in the presence of President Boakai and senior government officials.

Cole argued that the conduct of the CSA boss raises serious concerns about the neutrality of the institution responsible for overseeing discipline and professional standards in the country’s civil service.

According to the Bong County lawmaker, officials occupying key public offices are expected to avoid direct political involvement in order to protect the credibility and independence of government institutions.

He warned that such actions could undermine public trust and create the impression that political loyalty is being placed above professionalism in the civil service.

The lawmaker further maintained that ordinary government employees are frequently cautioned against participating in partisan political activities and said the same standards must apply to senior officials entrusted with enforcing public service regulations.

Rep. Cole is now urging President Boakai to take what he described as decisive action against Joekai, warning that failure to do so could weaken confidence in the government’s commitment to accountability and ethical governance.
