While it seemed empty walking in, it was only because we were able to park at the stadium—hospitality guests had access to special passes, instead of navigating the chaos of New Jersey transit to the game.

FIFA’s hospitality is provided by On Location. “When it comes to games and hospitality in the U.S., it’s something we do better than anybody else,” Fox Sports commentator Stu Holden told me before the tournament began. “I know that these fans that will be traveling in from all across the world to experience the game, and those that want the elevated experience are going to get that and they’re going to get it in a way that they’ve not been able to previously.”

Here’s a look inside Marriott’s suite at New York/New Jersey stadium. It was a particularly exciting game for the brand, as two of their campaign stars—Erling Haaland of Norway and Vinícius Júnior of Brazil—were facing off.

Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel program, is an official partner of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and has been offering members exclusive experiences throughout the tournament, from hospitality events to behind-the-scenes access.

“They care very little about anything beyond the pitch. The pitch is what’s most important—everything else [is] supplementing.” Carl Frye, Pingry School’s Director of Auxiliary programs, told me. (The school hosted Team Morocco.) “The facilities are important, but the grass is everything. If the grass is not good, nothing else matters. All the bells and whistles—you can have the most beautiful weight rooms and gyms and whirlpools and nutrition facilities—but the quality of the field is paramount.”

I decided not to wear Brazil or Norway merch instead, I took some fashion advice from T&C’s shopping editor, Sophie Dweck, and opted for a pair of Bermuda shorts along with the USMNT away jersey and Heidi Merrick sunglasses.

I also carried a clear stadium bag from Stoney Clover Lane.

To kick off the game inside the Marriott suite: Taittinger Champagne. Saúde (as they say in Brazil) or skål (in Norway)!

As Norway led 2-0 going into the final minutes of the game, Brazilian players got heated as they fought for a penalty kick.

After Norway won, Haaland led his team and Norway supporters in the now-iconic “Viking Row” as he beat a drum. Here was my POV of the row.
