Former Montserrado County District #8 Representative Moses Acarous Gray has claimed that the current US Rate is higher than the rates recorded during the CDC administration.
“They talk about the economy. Prices are higher than during the CDC time; the US rate is also higher than the CDC time.”
He made the claim for 3 minutes during a live interview on Thursday, August 27, 2026, while criticising the price hikes of basic commodities and the depreciation of the Liberian dollar.
His interview was carried live on Golden TV Liberia and OK FM/TV

Verification
The former CDC government of President George Weah was inaugurated in January 2018 and turned over state power in January 2024.
As of September 2, 2026, the Central Bank of Liberia exchange rate is L$174 to US$1.00.
Our researcher then reviewed data from the Central Bank of Liberia daily exchange rates, particularly July 22, 2019. The data show that the exchange rate was L$200 to US$1.00.
Also, in November 2019, the exchange rate was L$209 per US$1.00.
Conclusion
Based on available data from the Central Bank of Liberia, Acarous Gray’s claim is false.
