Ex-Baroka Coach Appointed At Orbit

Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye has explained why they’ve roped in former Baroka FC and University of Pretoria coach Tlisane Motaung to work as his assistant at the club.

Motaung was coach of Baroka last season as the club got relegated to the ABC Motsepe League and he’s now back in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to work as an assistant

Orbit have had a difficult start to the season, with two draws and as many defeats in their first four matches of the campaign. They do, however, believe it’s only matter of time before they start getting victories, after the many changes they’ve had to make to the team after getting relegated from the Betway Premiership.

The appointment of Motaung is expected to play a role in making sure they find their feet soon, considering how much experience he has from coaching in the second tier.

“As much as we are reinforcing the team with players, we are also reinforcing the technical team. I think the guy has a wealth of experience, especially in this league and we sat down and we said we are short in terms of the technical team. We needed to bring in somebody who has been a head coach before, that will bring in something new. He came in and brought a wealth of experience,” Makhoye told Soccer Laduma.

“When you look at our players, we are fitter than the team we are playing against. That’s why even when we go one man down, we don’t panic. He brought that element of helping the team to be conditioned and physically strong. It’s one of the things we lacked in the PSL (Betway Premiership). Coach Tlisane is bringing that. Also, if you check our team, we’ve raided Tuks, so you need somebody who understands those players more than you. It’s going to be a nice combination.”

Orbit will face Hope FC in their next Championship match at Athlone Stadium.
