European apples took centre stage in Bogotá from 9 to 12 June during Anuga Select Colombia 2026 and a dedicated press conference aimed at strengthening business relations and expanding export opportunities in the Colombian market.

The press conference, held on 10 June at Ilatinas restaurant, brought together journalists, business representatives, and members of the Polish delegation. The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Colombia, Barbara Sośnicka, and provided an opportunity to discuss trade cooperation and the prospects for increasing exports of European fruit to Colombia.
Guests were welcomed by Sławomir Kędzierski, Vice-President of the Association of Polish Fruit and Vegetable Distributors “Unia Owocowa”, who presented an overview of apple production in Poland and Europe, highlighting the quality, variety range, and production standards of European apples.

Ambassador Barbara Sośnicka spoke about the presence of European and Polish fruit on the Colombian market, while Dorota Siry, Business Development Manager at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency’s (PAIH) International Trade Office in Bogotá, outlined key aspects of trade cooperation between Poland and Colombia.
The programme also included a culinary presentation demonstrating the versatility of European apples. Chef Maleja Bestial led a live cooking demonstration during which participants prepared and sampled a dessert featuring European apples. Guests also received information materials about the promotional programme.

Alongside the press event, the delegation exhibited at Anuga Select Colombia 2026, using the trade fair to meet representatives of the food industry, discuss potential cooperation, and present European apples to visitors. The campaign also highlighted the production process, quality standards, and variety selection behind European apples.
The delegation visited Corabastos, Colombia’s largest wholesale market and food distribution centre, to gain insight into the local distribution system and discuss opportunities for expanding European fruit exports.

A further meeting with representatives of the Asifruit Fruit and Vegetable Importers’ Association focused on cooperation between European apple producers and Colombian importers. The discussions provided an opportunity to better understand local market requirements and explore future business opportunities.
The organisers said participation in Anuga Select Colombia 2026 reinforced the importance of the Colombian market for European apple producers and thanked visitors, PAIH, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bogotá, and Asifruit for their support in promoting European apples in Colombia.
