Etihad to begin Harare flights and codeshare with Fastjet Zimbabwe

Abu Dhabi-based carrier will add Harare to its network in March 2027.

Etihad Airways has inked a tentative interline agreement with Fastjet Zimbabwe, ahead of the Middle Eastern carrier’s launch of flights to Harare.

The two airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on 7 July to form a new interline partnership and codeshare deal. Under the agreement, Etihad passengers will be able to connect seamlessly onto Fastjet-operated flights from Harare to Bulawayo and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, as well as Johannesburg in South Africa.

In return, Fastjet will place its designator code on Etihad’s flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond.

Etihad will begin nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and Harare on 24 March 2027.

“Africa is an important part of Etihad’s growth, and partnerships like this one with Fastjet Zimbabwe are how we extend our reach and open up more of the continent for our guests,” says Etihad chief revenue and commercial officer Arik De.

Fastjet Zimbabwe chief commercial officer Vivian Ruwuya adds: “This partnership opens up the world for our customers in Zimbabwe. From Harare, travellers can now connect onto Etihad’s global network and reach Abu Dhabi and destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and beyond, all on a single ticket.”

Tickets under the new partnership are due to go on sale on 24 August.
