EMA issues high wave warning for Alexandria and major Mediterranean beaches

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) confirmed that hot and humid conditions will persist across most parts of the country.

Rising humidity levels are expected to make the weather feel even warmer, adding 2°C to 4°C to the actual recorded temperatures.

The weather will start warm and humid in the early morning hours, growing hot and humid during the day across most regions.

Extreme heat will grip southern Egypt, while temperatures will drop back to warm and humid by the evening and early morning.

Chance of light rain

The EMA predicts a slight chance of low cloud formation over scattered parts of the Northern Coast, Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, and the Canal Cities.

This could bring light, non-disruptive rain showers to some of these areas.

High wave warnings for Mediterranean beaches

Satellite imagery reveals intermittent wind activity across most areas, which will help cool the air during the night.

However, strong winds ranging between 30 and 40 km/h will sweep across several Mediterranean beaches—including Sallum, Matrouh, Alamein, Alexandria, Baltim, and Port Said.

This will cause wave heights to rise between 1.5 and two meters.

Regional temperature breakdown:

  • Greater Cairo: Recorded high: 35°C
  • Northwestern Coast: Recorded high: 31°C
  • Northeastern Coast: Recorded high: 33°C
  • Northern Upper Egypt: Recorded high: 37°C
  • Southern Upper Egypt: Recorded high: 42°C
