Egypt’s tourist arrivals rise 7% in first four months of 2026

Egypt’s tourism sector maintained strong growth momentum in 2026, with tourist arrivals increasing by seven percent during the first four months of the year, according to government figures released late on Thursday.

The Egyptian cabinet stated that the country received 6.1 million tourists between January and April 2026, compared with 5.7 million visitors during the same period in 2025.

The cabinet also noted that tourist arrivals to Egypt rose by 20.5 per cent in 2025 compared with 2024, reflecting continued recovery and expansion in the sector.

Egypt currently welcomes tourists from 179 countries and is implementing tailored promotional campaigns for different international markets as part of a national strategy to attract 30 million tourists annually by 2030, the cabinet said.

In the same context, Britain’s The Times described Egypt as an exceptional and affordable travel destination, highlighting the warmth and hospitality of the Egyptian people.

The newspaper said few countries have matched Egypt’s tourism growth in recent years, noting that the country has consistently ranked among the top-selling destinations according to the London-based Advantage Travel Partnership, which represents independent travel agencies.

The report also cited annual surveys by Post Office Travel Money, which repeatedly ranked Egypt’s Red Sea resorts among destinations offering excellent value for money.

According to The Times, most visitors to Egypt travel to Cairo, home to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which officially opened in November 2025 and showcases more than 7,000 years of history.
