Egypt, Greece call for second phase of Trump’s Gaza plan
Egypt, Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration, during a meeting in El Alamein, Egypt, called for the implementation of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza. They also called for an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory and for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from there. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing a statement by the Egyptian president.
The talks in the northern Egyptian city were attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Greek Cypriot administration leader Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. They confirmed their intention to strengthen peace, security, stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East by expanding trilateral cooperation. The parties also stated that agreements and memoranda on maritime boundary delimitation must be concluded in accordance with international law, particularly the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Gaza and Palestinian statehood
The parties reiterated their support for an independent, sovereign Palestinian state within the lines as of June 4, 1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem, in accordance with UN resolutions. The leaders stressed the importance of implementing the second phase of Trump’s plan for Gaza and fulfilling UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 to begin reconstruction, early recovery and the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.

The meeting participants also supported preserving the geographical, political and legal unity of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. They rejected attempts to separate these territories from each other or forcibly displace Palestinians.
Lebanon, Libya and cooperation
Regarding Lebanon, the parties supported strengthening state institutions, including the country’s armed forces, so that the state can exercise authority and sovereignty throughout its territory. The statement on Libya reaffirmed support for its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity, as well as for a political process led by Libyans themselves. The parties called for the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries from the country and for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
The leaders discussed cooperation in trade, investment, energy, tourism, education, culture, migration and employment, as well as in security, combating organized crime and irregular migration. They agreed to hold the next, 11th trilateral summit in the Greek Cypriot administration, but no date was announced.
