Egypt expands education outreach to attract Nigerian students

CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — Egypt has launched an education promotion campaign in Nigeria to attract more international students and strengthen academic cooperation with African countries.

The initiative, organized under the “Study in Egypt” program, is being led by the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences in cooperation with higher education authorities, international student officials and Egypt’s trade representation in Nigeria, according to Sada El-Balad, a TV BRICS partner.

The campaign is visiting Lagos, Abuja and Kano to provide Nigerian students with information about Egyptian universities, academic programs, admission requirements and tuition costs.

University representatives and education advisers are meeting prospective students through presentations and interactive sessions. Participants can also receive preliminary assessments of their academic qualifications to determine potential admission opportunities.

Egyptian authorities are seeking to make higher education a larger part of the country’s services exports by increasing the number of foreign students studying at Egyptian universities.

Officials say direct engagement with Nigerian students can help Egyptian universities better understand demand in the Nigerian market while raising awareness of available programs and educational opportunities.

Egypt has also highlighted improvements by its universities in international rankings and subject-specific assessments, along with growth in scientific research and international academic publishing.

Egyptian universities currently host students from more than 120 nationalities and offer programs across a wide range of academic disciplines, including specialized and emerging fields.

The promotion campaign also presents Egypt as a broader educational and cultural destination, combining university studies with the country’s historical and tourism attractions. Authorities are emphasizing innovation, practical training and research aimed at improving students’ employment prospects.

Organizers expect the initiative to increase student mobility between Egypt and Nigeria while creating stronger institutional ties and new opportunities for cooperation between universities in the two countries.
