Egypt, EU discuss Libya stability on ASEAN sidelines

Egypt’s foreign minister has discussed developments in Libya with the European Union’s top diplomat.

Badr Abdelatty met EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of an ASEAN ministerial meeting in Manila on Thursday.

Both sides emphasised the importance of backing efforts to restore security in Libya, while also reaffirming the need to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The talks also covered regional issues including the situations in Sudan and Syria.

The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations between Egypt and the European Union, as part of a broader strategic partnership and coordination on regional security matters.
