Egypt condemns Israeli airstrikes on Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria

CAIRO – 18 August 2026: Egypt has strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria’s Idlib Governorate.

In an official statement, Egypt characterized the attack as a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as a clear breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Egypt affirmed its absolute rejection of Israel’s continued violations of Syrian territory, warning that such attacks represent a dangerous escalation that undermines efforts to stabilize both Syria and the broader region. The statement highlighted that these actions threaten regional peace and security at a time when prioritizing political solutions, de-escalating tensions, and preserving Syrian state resources are urgently needed to restore stability.

Furthermore, Egypt urged the international community to assume its responsibilities by putting an end to repeated Israeli violations and halting policies aimed at imposing a fait accompli by force, which only fuel successive cycles of regional escalation.
