Econet Zimbabwe to phase out 3G network by end of 2027
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe announced plans to switch off its 3G network by the end of December 2027, followed by a phased retirement of 2G, as part of an effort to accelerate investment in faster 4G and 5G infrastructure, the Herald reported. According to the country’s largest mobile operator, retiring these legacy technologies will enhance overall service quality, free up vital spectrum, and align the network with global telecommunication standards.
