Ebola outbreak death toll in DRC tops 500

According to the latest data from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Ministry of Health (MOH), the DRC has recorded 1,561 cumulative confirmed cases, including 628 patients in isolation or hospitalized, 253 recoveries, and 506 deaths among confirmed cases in the three provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, representing a case fatality rate of 32.4%.

The contact tracing rate has reached 81.6% in the three affected provinces.

According to the government, contact tracing and community surveillance are continuing at a sustained pace. Thousands of contacts are being monitored daily, and investigation rates remain high, demonstrating the ongoing commitment of field teams and community liaisons.

Furthermore, the response continues to strengthen thanks to improved logistical capacities and community engagement. This momentum is reflected in particular by the expansion of Ebola treatment center (ETC) capacities, the regular supply of medical inputs and infection prevention and control (IPC) equipment, as well as the growing adherence of local leaders to prevention measures.
