Dobbo keen on double Bok deal

Stormers boss John Dobson is open to negotiating a loan for two-time Springbok World Cup winner Faf de Klerk and one other veteran playmaker.

Rapport reports that De Klerk, who is currently playing for the Cheetahs, is being considered as the Stormers look to bolster their scrumhalf stocks.

The former Pumas, Lions, Sale Sharks and Canon Eagles star has been in strong form in the Currie Cup.

The move is understood to be linked to the Stormers’ need for additional experience at scrumhalf, with veteran Dewaldt Duvenage having played this last professional match against the All Blacks and Imad Khan ruled out with a serious knee injury.

Dobson is also considering one-cap Bok Louis Schreuder, who previously represented the Stormers and Western Province, from the Boland Cavaliers as a possible stop-gap.

“Loan players are an option, like Faf and Louis Schreuder from Boland. We are looking at that,” Dobson was quoted by Rapport.

The Stormers reportedly also have Lions scrumhalf Haashim Pead in their plans, but Dobson has ruled out a move to re-sign Bok Herschel Jantjies from Bayonne.
