The Barbarians have called up two Springboks for Saturday’s clash against Wales at Twickenham.
Cheetahs scrumhalf Faf de Klerk and Sharks prop Vincent Koch had been part of the extended Springbok group for the recent training camp.
However, they were not included in the 46-man Bok squad for the Nations Championship that was announced on Saturday night.
De Klerk came off the bench in the Boks’ 80-31 win over the Baa-Baas at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, while Koch did not feature for the Boks or South Africa A.
Koch earned the last of his 63 Test caps against Georgia in Nelspruit a year ago.
SQUAD: Riley stays with Boks, Embrose returns
Australian utility forward Lukhan Salakaia-Loto is the third new player added to the Barbarians roster for Saturday’s clash against Wales.
The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is unavailable for the match and because it is considered an away fixtures for Wales, the Barbarians opted for Twickenham.
The two teams last met in November 2023 in Cardiff when Wales won 49-26.
Wales will use the match as preparation for their Nations Championship Tests against Fiji, Argentina and the Springboks (in Durban on 18 July).
The Boks ran in 11 tries in a record-breaking 73-0 victory against Wales in Cardiff last November.
