Davis Cup :Team Nigeria hits  Morocco World Group II tie

Nigeria’s Davis Cup team  has departed Lagos for Rabat, Morocco, ahead of a 2026 Davis Cup World Group II tie against the host nation on September 19-20, the National Sports Commission (NSC) said in a statement.

The tie will be played at the Union Sportive des Cheminots de Tennis du Maroc, with a place in the Davis Cup World Group I awaiting the winner.

According to the NSC, the team flew out aboard Royal Air Maroc after a three-week training camp, and are seeking to end a run of four straight defeats to Morocco in the fixture.

Head Coach Benson Ishicheli leads a squad of Daniel Adeleye, Canice Abua, Michael Emmanuel and Yusuf Abubakar. Rising star Oluwaseun Ogunsakin, who has featured at Roland Garros and the US Open this year, is expected to join the squad directly in Morocco to complete a five-man lineup.

Nigeria reached this stage after beating Uzbekistan in February — their first World Group II qualification in 30 years.
