Former Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has been linked with the vacant head coaching position at Kano Pillars ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The four-time league champions are reportedly exploring options to strengthen their technical crew, with Ogunmodede emerging as one of the leading candidates for the role.
Pillars hold talks
Reports indicate that Kano Pillars have held preliminary talks with Ogunmodede as they continue their search for a new manager.
The young tactician is believed to be open to a fresh challenge after leaving Remo Stars at the end of last season.
Former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf has also been mentioned among the coaches being considered for the position.
Impressive record at Remo Stars
Ogunmodede enjoyed a successful spell at Remo Stars, leading the club to its first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League title during the 2024/25 campaign.
He also guided the Sky Blue Stars to two CAF Champions League appearances, helping establish the club among the country’s top football teams.
His achievements have earned him a reputation as one of the most promising coaches in the domestic league.
Continues Super Eagles role
Aside from his club coaching career, Ogunmodede remains one of the assistant coaches to Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
His experience at both club and international levels is expected to strengthen his chances if Kano Pillars decide to appoint him ahead of the new NPFL season.
